  My husband and I visited several children's centers in Champaign when we moved to town in 2006. We selected Early Learning from amongst the several options for multiple reasons: 1) Very low student to teacher ratios, in the youngest room 15 months to 2.5 years there is one teacher to four children! 2) The outdoor play area is amazing! Very natural setting with shade, sandboxes, area to explore and for the kids to spread out an play. 3) Teacher turnover is very low, and the teachers are amongst the most sincere, caring people you'll meet. 4) There is always a creative project or investigation going on in the older kids rooms. Rather than boring worksheets, it's all hands on learning through creative play and exploration. 5) The rates are very reasonable, no non-refundable deposits like at other places. The Director works with parents to find optimal arrangement for the child. She has taken measures to accommodate children with disabilities, illnesses, allergies, kosher diets and even permits cloth diapers!! It truly is an amazing place, and my children never want to leave at the end of the day!

  We love Early Learning! Both of our children have attended. This is one of the best preschools in town. Don't believe the hype at some other centers in town - Early Learning actually features an age-appropriate, play-based learning environment. The teachers are educated in early childhood development, extremely flexible with individual schedules/needs, and they are all very calm and caring towards the children. Teacher-student ratio is great. One of the best things about EL is that the kids spend so much time outdoors, in nearly all weather. The backyard playscape is shady and comfortable - a nice combination of deck, sand area, climbing, and naturalistic mounds and tunnels. It's a cheery place on the inside too - all the rooms have large windows and doors overlooking the play area. The website isn't super informative - so visiting in person is ideal. We knew it was the place for our daughter as soon as we walked into the classroom 5 years ago, and we haven't looked back. Thanks Jill for running such an excellent preschool for our community.

  Early Learning is terrific! Our son has been attending since he was 8 months old in the Butterfly classroom + now he's 3 — and still comes home to tell us all about what he's done at school and about all of his friends. Each of his teachers have been pivotal in his care + development. EL's playground and play-based learning was completely ideal for what we were hoping to find in a center.
  
  Early Learning was also instantly bumped to the top of our list when we realized how flexible and considerate Jill Moore, the director, was with our non-traditional schedules. It is also one of the more affordable child centers in Champaign-Urbana — but, does not skimp on the essentials.
